Our Stylist Says

I love the industrial feel of the Newtown steel pendant and it's a great choice for adding a modern, urban touch to a variety of interiors. Its black finish makes it versatile enough to complement minimalist, contemporary, or even rustic schemes. This pendant works particularly well over kitchen islands, dining tables, or in losely decorated living spaces, where it can create a focal point without being overpowering. Practical styling tips include pairing it with warm filament bulbs for a softer glow, and hanging at different heights in a multi-light arrangement to add visual interest. Overall, it’s an understated yet stylish piece that balances form and function effortlessly.

The Birth of Habitat

In 1964, Sir Terence Conran founded Habitat in London, aiming to bring a fresh European touch to UK home decor.

Rapid Expansion & Legacy

Habitat grew swiftly in the UK during the 1960s and even crossed borders with its first international store in Paris in 1973.

The brand's journey through the decades saw various mergers and acquisitions, including its integration with Sainsbury's Group in 2017.

Habitat's innovation extended beyond products; they even launched a mail-order system in 1966 and initiated the concept of flat-pack furniture in 1971.

Celebrating its rich history, the brand marked its 50th anniversary in 2014 by collaborating with past designers and commissioning a special logo.
