I’m a big fan of this black chest for its clean lines and subtle detailing in the top drawers - it sits equally well in a modern Scandi scheme or an urban-industrial loft. The slim metal legs lift the piece off the floor, keeping the look light, while the ribbed-glass panels add just enough texture. Style it with a round wall mirror above, a couple of potted succulents and a tray for everyday bits and bobs; on the lower drawers you can hide away textiles or paperwork to keep surfaces clutter-free.

In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth.
