Black History Month 2022 collection In celebration of Black History Month 2022, alongside EAST END PRINTS, John Lewis have curated a selection of works by Black artists. The collection champions creativity and explores gorgeous new work by Hali Igwelaezoh, Layover Art and Sumuyya Khader. Every time you buy a print from our Black History Month collection, you are helping to support a community of artists who create beautiful art for your space. Bring your wall to life with this vibrant abstract landscape by Sumuyya Khader. The giclée art printing process and 210gsm acid-free archival paper create an exhibition-quality art print with long-lasting colours that more closely resemble the artist's materials and tones. A digital form of the original work is stored and then printed using a commercial printer and pigment-based inks. The print is presented with an acrylic glaze that's optically the same as glass yet lighter in weight making it easier and safer to hang. Ready to hang on your wall, it's framed in obeche wood in a choice of finishes. Artist Sumuyya Khader works with major institutions, projects, publishers, social enterprises and artist-led groups. Her practice is a combination of illustration, drawing and print works that predominantly explore place and identity. She set up Granby Press, a community-based organisation with a focus on printed material and design while also developing an archive of black culture and history in the L8 area of Liverpool. Have you thought about wall hooks and fittings?
I love this print for its bold use of colour and abstract forms, making it an eye-catching focal point in a contemporary or minimal interior. It works particularly well in modern living rooms, bedrooms, or home offices where it can bring a splash of vibrancy without overwhelming the space. For styling, consider pairing it with neutral wall colours and simple frames-this piece already has lots of personality, so keeping surrounding decor understated will let it stand out. It also pairs well with natural materials and textures, such as wood or linen, to create a balanced and inviting aesthetic. Practical tip: hang it at eye level and consider layering with other artwork for a curated gallery wall effect.
