Description
Black History Month 2022 collection In celebration of Black History Month 2022, alongside EAST END PRINTS, John Lewis have curated a selection of works by Black artists. The collection champions creativity and explores gorgeous new work by Hali Igwelaezoh, Layover Art and Sumuyya Khader. Every time you buy a print from our Black History Month collection, you are helping to support a community of artists who create beautiful art for your space. Bring a summery feel to your walls with this portrait print by artist Sofia Doudine. The giclée art printing process and 210gsm acid-free archival paper create an exhibition-quality art print with long-lasting colours that more closely resemble the artist's materials and tones. A digital form of the original work is stored and then printed using a commercial printer and pigment-based inks. The print is presented with an acrylic glaze that's optically the same as glass yet lighter in weight making it easier and safer to hang. Ready to hang on your wall, it's framed in obeche wood in a choice of finishes. Hali Igwelaezoh is a Nigerian-born, London-based artist and creator who works predominantly through illustration, painting, photography and sculpture. Illustration is her primary medium, with a focus on themes related to culture and femininity. Hali enjoys taking inspiration from several things in life; people, everyday objects, feelings and spirituality to name a few things. Many of her works explore the simplicity and beauty of human form and positioning; movement, expression, themes of softness, still life, and sentimental objects are just a few of the inspirations she draws from. Her work is usually created with thin, fine line-work or abstract visuals, while using natural palettes. Have you thought about wall hooks and fittings? EAST END PRINTS picture frames are usually one of two frame widths: medium frame (2.2cm) and wide frame (3.5cm). The frame width varies across the range. The medium frame measures 2.2cm across and comes in the following four sizes: 33.4 x 28.4cm 43.4 x 33.4cm 53.4 x 43.4cm 83.4 x 63.4cm The wide frame measures 3.5cm across and comes in the following four sizes: 36 x 31cm 46 x 36cm 56 x 46cm 86 x 66cm
Our Stylist Says
I love the vibrant, playful vibe of the East End Prints Sofia Doudine 'Summer Vibe' print-it’s a great way to introduce colour and personality to any space. Its bold, modern style works especially well in contemporary or eclectic interiors, where you want the artwork to be a focal point. To style it effectively, consider pairing it with neutral or muted furnishings to let the colours pop, or create a colour-coordinated gallery wall for a lively, curated look. It's also versatile enough to suit bedrooms, living rooms, or even hallways, adding a cheerful, upbeat touch wherever it’s displayed. Practical tip: using a simple, understated frame like in the product helps to keep the focus on the art itself, making it adaptable for different interior themes.

About John Lewis
A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion
John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.
What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.
Adapting to Changing Times
Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.
Commitment to a Greater Purpose
John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
