Black History Month 2022 collection In celebration of Black History Month 2022, alongside EAST END PRINTS, John Lewis have curated a selection of works by Black artists. The collection champions creativity and explores gorgeous new work by Hali Igwelaezoh, Layover Art and Sumuyya Khader. Every time you buy a print from our Black History Month collection, you are helping to support a community of artists who create beautiful art for your space. Have you jumped on the rollerskate trend? Join in the fun with this bright figurative print by artist Sofia Doudine. The giclée art printing process and 210gsm acid-free archival paper create an exhibition-quality art print with long-lasting colours that more closely resemble the artist's materials and tones. A digital form of the original work is stored and then printed using a commercial printer and pigment-based inks. The print is presented with an acrylic glaze that's optically the same as glass yet lighter in weight making it easier and safer to hang. Ready to hang on your wall, it's framed in obeche wood in a choice of finishes. Hali Igwelaezoh is a Nigerian-born, London-based artist and creator who works predominantly through illustration, painting, photography and sculpture. Illustration is her primary medium, with a focus on themes related to culture and femininity. Hali enjoys taking inspiration from several things in life; people, everyday objects, feelings and spirituality to name a few things. Many of her works explore the simplicity and beauty of human form and positioning; movement, expression, themes of softness, still life, and sentimental objects are just a few of the inspirations she draws from. Her work is usually created with thin, fine line-work or abstract visuals, while using natural palettes. Have you thought about wall hooks and fittings?
I love this print for its bold, vibrant colours and playful vibe, making it a great statement piece for modern and eclectic interiors. It works well in living rooms, bedrooms, or even creative spaces where a pop of personality is needed. For styling, try pairing it with neutral backgrounds to let the artwork stand out, or complement the colours within the print with accessories and cushions in similar hues. Practical tip: the white frame adds a fresh, clean touch that suits minimalist or contemporary schemes, but it can also be layered with other frames for a more curated gallery look. It’s an easy way to inject character and colour without overwhelming the space.
