Description

EAST END PRINTS have collaborated with the Natural History Museum to create a beautiful collection of illustrative collages from the museum's archives. This pair of vintage illustrated fish and typography prints remind us to protect our planet's oceans and rivers. They include a Red Lionfish by British naturalist and artist John Reeves and an Indian humphead by Marcus Elieser Bloch. The giclée art printing process and 210gsm acid-free archival paper create an exhibition-quality art print with long-lasting colours that more closely resemble the artist's materials and tones. A digital form of the original work is stored and then printed using a commercial printer and pigment-based inks. The print is presented with an acrylic glaze that's optically the same as glass yet lighter in weight making it easier and safer to hang. Ready to hang on your wall, it's framed in obeche wood in a choice of finishes. Have you thought about wall hooks and fittings?

Our Stylist Says

I love this set of two prints because they bring a vintage scientific feel that works beautifully in both modern and traditional interiors. They’re perfect for styling within a nautical or nature-inspired scheme, adding interest without overwhelming the space. To make the most of these fish prints, try pairing them with natural textures like rattan or driftwood, or frame them against a neutral wall colour to let the artwork stand out. For practical tips, consider creating a gallery wall with other nature-themed pieces or placing them above a console or sideboard to serve as a focal point. Their understated black frames make them versatile, so they can adapt well to a variety of colour palettes and interior styles.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
