Black History Month 2022 collection In celebration of Black History Month 2022, alongside EAST END PRINTS, John Lewis have curated a selection of works by Black artists. The collection champions creativity and explores gorgeous new work by Hali Igwelaezoh, Layover Art and Sumuyya Khader. Every time you buy a print from our Black History Month collection, you are helping to support a community of artists who create beautiful art for your space. Give your space a cool-girl feel with this simple line-drawn design by artist Hali Igwelaezoh. The giclée art printing process and 210gsm acid-free archival paper create an exhibition-quality art print with long-lasting colours that more closely resemble the artist's materials and tones. A digital form of the original work is stored and then printed using a commercial printer and pigment-based inks. The print is presented with an acrylic glaze that's optically the same as glass yet lighter in weight making it easier and safer to hang. Ready to hang on your wall, it's framed in obeche wood in a choice of finishes. Hali Igwelaezoh is a Nigerian-born, London-based artist and creator who works predominantly through illustration, painting, photography and sculpture. Illustration is her primary medium, with a focus on themes related to culture and femininity. Hali enjoys taking inspiration from several things in life; people, everyday objects, feelings and spirituality to name a few things. Many of her works explore the simplicity and beauty of human form and positioning; movement, expression, themes of softness, still life, and sentimental objects are just a few of the inspirations she draws from. Her work is usually created with thin, fine line-work or abstract visuals, while using natural palettes. Have you thought about wall hooks and fittings?
I really like this bandana girl print for its minimal, yet expressive design, making it a versatile piece for many interiors. It works particularly well in contemporary or minimalist spaces due to its monochrome palette and clean lines, adding a touch of artistry without overwhelming the room. To style it effectively, consider pairing it with neutral tones or integrating it into a gallery wall with other black-and-white artwork. It’s also excellent for adding a subtle personalised touch in living rooms or bedrooms, especially if you want an art piece that feels modern but not too literal. Keep the framing simple, like its black border, to let the artwork stand out and maintain a sleek aesthetic.
