Presented in a deep-black hue with a dark base, Charles and Ray Eames' DSX Plastic Side Chair is the most understated piece from the Plastic Chair Collection, now featuring a refreshed colour palette that pays homage to the model's original colour history while acknowledging future aspirations, Originally launched in 1950, the collection introduced the idea of the multifunctional chair, featuring shells that could be combined with a variety of bases, and soon became one of the best-known furniture pieces of the twentieth century. Now referred to as 'The Chair of a Century', the DSX Chair's shell is an organically-shaped, dyed-through polypropylene which rests upon a solid dark tubular steel base and features rubber shock mounts to support longer periods of sitting down. In continual development for the modern user, Vitra has revised the geometry of the seat to achieve optimum ergonomics and comfort.
