Description
Charles and Ray Eames' dark green Hopsak-upholstered DSX Plastic Side Chair for Vitra features a deep black seat, chrome base and a refreshed colour palette for 2019, paying homage to the model's colour history while acknowledging future aspirations. Originally launched in 1950, the collection introduced the idea of the multifunctional chair, featuring shells that could be combined with a variety of bases, and soon became one of the best-known furniture pieces of the twentieth century. Now referred to as 'The Chair of a Century', the DSX Chair's shell is an organically-shaped, dyed-through polypropylene which seat comes fully upholstered in a selection of durable and robust Hopsak fabrics. Resting upon a chrome tubular steel base, it features rubber shock mounts to support longer periods of sitting down. In continual development for the modern user, Vitra has revised the geometry of the seat to achieve optimum ergonomics and comfort. An elegant and distinctive design, the DSX Plastic Side Chair is instantly recognisable as an authentic Eames piece and is crafted to exacting standards by prestigious collective Vitra.
