Description

Designed in 1950 by iconic duo Charles and Ray Eames for Vitra, the DSW Plastic Side Chair is an instantly recognisable piece, showcasing the signature ‘Eiffel’ base with black maple legs. Crafted from recyclable dyed-through polypropylene for greater comfort, the seat sits on a striking solid wood and wire base with cross struts and features rubber shock mounts to support longer periods of sitting down. The first industrially produced plastic chair, the DSW Chair has a simple and organic shape that has led to its legendary status and universal appeal. Updated in 2016, Vitra added 2cm to the height of the chair and revised the geometry of the seat for optimum ergonomics and comfort.

Our Stylist Says

I really like this plastic side chair for its clean lines and modern appeal. The sea blue adds a fresh touch that works well in contemporary or Scandinavian-inspired interiors, especially when paired with light woods or neutral tones. Its black maple legs bring a subtle contrast, making it versatile enough to mix with both colourful and muted colour palettes. Practical styling tips include layering it with textured cushions for added comfort or grouping a set around a dining table to create a casual yet stylish dining space. Because of its durable plastic construction, it also works well in kitchens or informal dining areas that need a practical, low-maintenance option.
