Description

Designed in 1950 by iconic duo Charles and Ray Eames for Vitra, the DSW Plastic Side Chair in light grey is an instantly recognisable piece, showcasing the signature dark maple 'Eiffel' base, minimalist seat and a refreshed colour palette for 2019, paying homage to the model's original colour history while acknowledging aspirations of the future. Crafted from recyclable dyed-through polypropylene for greater comfort, the seat sits on a striking solid dark maple wood and wire base with cross struts and features rubber shock mounts to support longer periods of sitting down. The first industrially produced plastic chair, the DSW Chair has a simple and organic shape that has led to its legendary status and universal appeal. Updated in 2016, Vitra added 2cm to the height of the chair and revised the geometry of the seat for optimum ergonomics and comfort.

Our Stylist Says

I love this two-tone dining chair for its clean, modern silhouette and subtle colour contrast, making it versatile for various interiors. The light grey plastic seat is durable and easy to maintain, ideal for everyday use, while the dark maple legs introduce a warm, natural touch that complements both contemporary and Scandinavian-inspired spaces. It works particularly well in kitchens or dining rooms that lean towards minimalist or mid-century styles. Practical styling tips include pairing it with a round or rectangular table in wood or laminate to enhance its modern vibe, and adding textured accessories or soft seat pads for extra comfort and visual interest. This chair is a smart choice for injecting a sleek, functional aesthetic without sacrificing warmth or personality.
