Description

Originally launched in 1950, the Eameses' DSW Fiberglass Side Chair introduced the idea of the multifunctional chair, featuring shells that could be combined with a variety of bases, and soon became one of the best-known furniture pieces of the twentieth century. An organic yet contemporary form, the DSW Chair’s shell displays the characteristic irregular surface of Fiberglass, which appears almost like a natural material thanks to its clearly visible fibres. The seat rests upon a solid dark maple base with steel ‘Eiffel’ cross struts and features rubber shock mounts to support longer periods of sitting down. In continual development for the modern user, Vitra has revised the geometry of the seat to achieve optimum ergonomics and comfort.

Our Stylist Says

I love how this Dining Chair combines modern comfort with a touch of natural warmth. The warm grey and moor brown hues make it versatile, working well in both contemporary and Scandi-inspired interiors. Its clean lines and understated style lend themselves to minimalistic spaces, but it can also add character to a more eclectic setting. For styling tips, consider pairing it with a wooden or marble table to highlight its earthy tones, and add textured cushions or throws for extra comfort and visual interest. Because of its neutral palette, it can easily be styled with colourful tableware or accessories to personalise the space while maintaining a sleek aesthetic.
