Description

Designed in 1950 by iconic duo Charles and Ray Eames for Vitra, the DSW Plastic Side Chair is an instantly recognisable piece, showcasing the signature 'Eiffel' base with golden maple legs. Crafted from recyclable dyed-through polypropylene for greater comfort, the seat sits on a striking solid wood and wire base with cross struts and features rubber shock mounts to support longer periods of sitting down. The first industrially produced plastic chair, the DSW has a simple and organic shape that has led to its legendary status and universal appeal. Updated in 2016, Vitra added 2cm to the height of the chair and revised the geometry of the seat for optimum ergonomics and comfort. Our Stylist Says

I really like this plastic side chair because of its versatility and modern appeal. The warm grey and ivory tones make it a great choice for contemporary interiors, especially those with Scandinavian or minimalist styles. Its neutral palette allows it to blend seamlessly with various colour schemes, and the wooden legs add a touch of warmth and natural texture. For styling, pairing these chairs with a wooden or glass dining table works beautifully, and they also look smart combined with softer textiles like cosy cushions or textured seat pads for added comfort. Practical for everyday use and easy to clean, they’re ideal for busy family kitchens or modern dining areas that prioritise functionality without sacrificing style.
