Description

Designed in 1950 by iconic duo Charles and Ray Eames, the DSW Plastic Side Chair is an instantly recognisable piece, showcasing the signature 'Eiffel' base with golden maple legs and a minimalist ice grey seat. Crafted from recyclable dyed-through polypropylene for greater comfort, the seat sits on a striking solid wood and wire base with cross struts features rubber shock mounts to support longer periods of sitting down. The first industrially produced plastic chair, the DSW Chair has a simple and organic shape that has led to its legendary status and universal appeal. Updated in 2016, Vitra added 2cm to the height of the chair and revised the geometry of the seat for optimum ergonomics and comfort.

Our Stylist Says

I love this clear and contemporary chair for its versatility and clean silhouette. The Ice Grey plastic adds a soft, neutral tone that works well in modern, minimalist spaces or as a subtle contrast in more eclectic interiors. Its lightweight design makes it practical for everyday use and easy to move around, while the natural wood legs introduce warmth and texture, balancing the sleek plastic. Styling tips include pairing it with a variety of table finishes-from timber to metal-and soft padded cushions for extra comfort. It’s a great choice for urban dining rooms or home offices, where a mix of materials and a neutral palette can create a fresh, airy vibe.
