Description

Designed in 1950 by iconic duo Charles and Ray Eames for Vitra, the DSW Plastic Side Chair in deep black is an instantly recognisable piece, showcasing the signature 'Eiffel' base with black maple legs and a refreshed colour palette for 2019, paying homage to the model's original colour history while acknowledging future aspirations. Crafted from recyclable dyed-through polypropylene for greater comfort, the seat sits on a striking solid wood and wire base with cross struts and features rubber shock mounts to support longer periods of sitting down. The first industrially produced plastic chair, the DSW Chair has a simple and organic shape that has led to its legendary status and universal appeal. Updated in 2016, Vitra added 2cm to the height of the chair and revised the geometry of the seat for optimum ergonomics and comfort.

Our Stylist Says

This black plastic dining chair with black maple detail is incredibly versatile and perfect for a modern, minimalist interior. Its sleek shape and monochrome palette make it suitable for contemporary spaces, especially those that favour a clean, uncluttered aesthetic. The deep black finish adds sophistication, while the black maple leg detail introduces a subtle touch of warmth and texture. Practical styling tips include pairing these with a neutral-toned dining table to make the chairs stand out or mixing with other matte black or wood elements for an eclectic yet cohesive look. They work well in open plan kitchens, casual dining areas, or even as statement seating in a home office or lounge corner. Their durable plastic ensures practicality, making them easy to clean and maintain.
