Description

Designed in 1950 by iconic duo Charles and Ray Eames, the DSW Plastic Side Chair is an instantly recognisable piece, showcasing the signature 'Eiffel' base with black maple legs and an on-trend basalt hued seat. Crafted from recyclable dyed-through polypropylene for greater comfort, the seat sits on a striking solid wood and wire base with cross struts features rubber shock mounts to support longer periods of sitting down. The first industrially produced plastic chair, the DSW Chair has a simple and organic shape that has led to its legendary status and universal appeal. Updated in 2016, Vitra added 2cm to the height of the chair and revised the geometry of the seat for optimum ergonomics and comfort.

Our Stylist Says

I love this plastic side chair for its sleek, modern look and versatile colour palette. The basalt and black maple finish makes it an excellent choice for a contemporary dining space, especially when paired with minimalistic or monochrome interiors. It’s practical too - lightweight and easy to clean, ideal for everyday use or more casual settings. For styling tips, consider pairing these chairs with a marble or wood table to add warmth, or with colourful tableware for a pop of personality. They work particularly well in modern kitchens, Scandinavian-inspired interiors, or even a stylish home office corner, adding both function and style without overwhelming the space.
