Description

Designed in 1950 by iconic duo Charles and Ray Eames for Vitra, the DSR Plastic Side Chair in rusty orange is an instantly recognisable piece, showcasing the signature black 'Eiffel' base and a refreshed colour palette that pays homage to the model's original colour history while acknowledging aspirations of the future. Crafted from recyclable dyed-through polypropylene for greater comfort, the seat sits on a striking chromed wire base with cross struts and features rubber shock mounts to support longer periods of sitting down. The first industrially produced plastic chair, the DSR Chair has a simple and organic shape that has led to its legendary status and universal appeal. Updated in 2016, Vitra added 2cm to the height of the chair and revised the geometry of the seat for optimum ergonomics and comfort. An elegant and distinctive design, the DSR Plastic Side Chair is instantly recognisable as an authentic Eames piece and is crafted to exacting standards by prestigious collective Vitra.

Our Stylist Says

I love this chair for its vibrant, rusty orange shade combined with a sleek, modern silhouette. It works particularly well in contemporary or industrial interiors, where its bold colour can add warmth and interest. The plastic seat is practical and easy to maintain, making it ideal for regular use around the dining table. Styling tips include pairing it with neutral or earthy-toned tableware to let the chair stand out, or mixing it with other colours for a more eclectic look. It also lends itself well to layered textures and materials, such as a wooden table or woven textiles, creating a balanced and inviting dining space.
