Description

This edition of Charles and Ray Eames' DSR Fiberglass Side Chair for Vitra features a chrome base and a navy-blue seat. Originally launched in 1950, the Fiberglass Chair Collection introduced the idea of the multifunctional chair, featuring shells that could be combined with a variety of bases, and soon became one of the best-known furniture pieces of the twentieth century. Now referred to as 'The Chair of a Century', the DSR Chair's shell displays the characteristic irregular surface of fibreglass, which appears almost like a natural material thanks to its clearly visible fibres. An organic yet contemporary form, the seat rests upon a striking chrome wire 'Eiffel' base with cross struts and features rubber shock mounts to support longer periods of sitting down. In continual development for the modern user, Vitra has revised the geometry of the seat to achieve optimum ergonomics and comfort.

Our Stylist Says

This chair is a stylish choice for modern and contemporary interiors, thanks to its sleek navy blue fibreglass seat and polished chrome legs. I love how it combines mid-century design with a fresh, industrial edge, making it versatile for both dining rooms and home offices. To enhance its appeal, consider pairing it with a rustic wooden dining table for contrast, or mixing with other navy or metallic accents for a cohesive look. Practical styling tips include layering different texture-friendly tableware and using minimal accessories to keep the focus on the chair’s clean lines. Its durability and easy-to-clean finish make it an excellent pick for everyday use without compromising on style.
