Description

The Drio oak kingsize platform bed frame is a statement, solid oak design with a planked headboard and a surround that gives it a floating appearance. The contemporary bed's headboard is gently reclined for comfort when sitting up in bed and its base has gently rounded edges. Made in Europe and exclusive to Habitat, the bed frame fits a standard UK 150cm double mattress and is part of the extensive Drio range and protected by an ecologically friendly, water-based, clear lacquer.

Our Stylist Says

I love this oak kingsize bed frame for its clean, minimalist design and natural warmth, making it a versatile piece that works exceptionally well in contemporary, Scandi, or neutral interiors. Its simplicity allows it to pair effortlessly with both textured bedding and colourful accessories, creating a relaxed yet stylish centrepiece. Practical styling tips include layering with cosy throws and mixed textiles to add depth, or placing potted plants nearby to enhance its natural aesthetic. It’s also worth considering how the natural wood finish complements other elements like bedside tables or wardrobes, helping to create a cohesive, calming bedroom space.

About Habitat

Founded in 1964, Habitat are a renowned brand, and a go-to destination for modern and stylish furniture and home accessories.

The Birth of Habitat

In 1964, Sir Terence Conran founded Habitat in London, aiming to bring a fresh European touch to UK home decor.

The first store, located on Fulham Road in Chelsea, became the blueprint for all Habitat stores to come. The store stood out with its distinct design, and was famously known for selling affordable pasta storage jars just as the pasta market began booming in the UK.

Rapid Expansion & Legacy

Habitat grew swiftly in the UK during the 1960s and even crossed borders with its first international store in Paris in 1973.

The brand's journey through the decades saw various mergers and acquisitions, including its integration with Sainsbury's Group in 2017.

Habitat's innovation extended beyond products; they even launched a mail-order system in 1966 and initiated the concept of flat-pack furniture in 1971.

Celebrating its rich history, the brand marked its 50th anniversary in 2014 by collaborating with past designers and commissioning a special logo.

Innovation & Collaboration

Habitat has always been at the forefront of modern design. Throughout its history, the brand has been renowned for its collaborations with acclaimed artists and designers, ensuring it consistently offers unique, limited-edition collections.

Under the umbrella of the Sainsbury's Group since 2017, Habitat continues its tradition of merging contemporary aesthetics with functional design, solidifying its reputation as a leading name in home furnishings.
