Description

The Ballet console's tall legs create a discrete structure that cradles a generous tabletop. Designed to suggest a sense of light-footedness, it is a characterful contemporary take on a traditional typology. Designed by world renowned studio, Doshi Levien, with the development overseen personally by Jonathan Levien, this console table is intimately detailed to create a stunning focal point for your living space. From the sleek laser cut base, to the hand finished top, every design detail has been painstakingly conceived from inception to manufacture. The steel base is finished in a super matt textured coating that gives a soft contemporary edge, while a super matt hand painted polyurethane top surface gives the table a quality finish. Open Home is a furniture collection designed by Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien for John Lewis. The collection responds to the growing trend of fluid and open living spaces. Activities such as resting, dining, working, cooking and entertaining are merging in most modern homes so that spaces become more flexible in their purpose, as do the objects that inhabit them. The collection consists of elements that can define a sense of place within an open living environment. Doshi Levien’s collection has a warm yet modern identity, combining high quality materials and sensual forms.

Our Stylist Says

I love the simplicity and clean lines of the Doshi Levien console on offer; it’s a versatile piece that can fit seamlessly into many interiors. It works particularly well in minimalist or contemporary spaces, but can also add a touch of understated elegance to a more eclectic setting. Practical styling tips include using it as a dedicated entryway surface with a statement lamp, a couple of carefully chosen decorative objects, or a seasonal display of plants. Its slim profile makes it easy to position against a wall or even at the foot of a bed, while keeping the look light and uncluttered. Overall, it’s a timeless piece that balances form and function effortlessly.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
