Description

Designed in 1951 by iconic duo Charles and Ray Eames, the DKW Wire Chair is an instantly recognisable piece, showcasing the signature 'Eiffel' base in black maple with a basic dark wire frame. Reflecting the form of the archetypal Eames Plastic Chair, the DKW is a reimagination of the fluid plastic frame in spot-welded black powder-coated wire, awarding it a transparent, industrial-inspired aesthetic. Elevated on the signature cross-strut base, the technical appearance of the wire shell is counterbalanced with the warmth of four lightly rounded maple legs, black-stained to complement the basic dark frame. An elegant and distinctive design, the DKW Wire Chair is instantly recognisable as an authentic Eames piece and is produced to exacting standards by prestigious collective Vitra.

Our Stylist Says

I love this wire chair for its sleek, modern silhouette that effortlessly blends minimalist style with a touch of industrial charm. Its black frame with a hint of dark wood adds depth, making it versatile across various interiors-from contemporary urban spaces to Scandinavian-inspired schemes. When styling, consider pairing it with a neutral or textured table to let the chair stand out, or layer it with cushions in bold colours or patterns for visual interest and added comfort. Practically, its open-wire design lends itself well to open-plan dining areas, and it's easy to keep clean, making it a smart choice for both casual and formal settings.
