Description

Designed in 1951 by iconic duo Charles and Ray Eames, the DKW Wire Chair is an instantly recognisable piece, showcasing the signature 'Eiffel' base in dark maple with a leather upholstered wire frame. Reflecting the form of the archetypal Eames Plastic Chair, the DKW is a reimagination of the fluid plastic frame in spot-welded black powder-coated wire, awarding it a transparent, industrial-inspired aesthetic. Accented with Vitra leather upholstery, the DKW Wire chair is awarded superior comfort and softness with a robust cowhide covering, pigmented and embossed for an impeccable finish. Elevated on the signature cross-strut base, the technical appearance of the wire shell is counterbalanced with the warmth of four lightly rounded maple legs, black-stained to complement the basic dark frame. An elegant and distinctive design, the DKW Wire Chair with leather upholstery is instantly recognisable as an authentic Eames piece and is produced to exacting standards by prestigious collective Vitra.

Our Stylist Says

I love this chair for its sleek combination of black maple and leather, which adds a modern yet understated touch to dining spaces. It works particularly well in contemporary interiors with minimalist or industrial accents, but can also bring an unexpected edge to more eclectic or mid-century inspired setups. For styling tips, consider pairing it with a wooden or marble table to highlight the natural wood tone, or mixing with colourful or patterned tableware to create visual interest. The neutral leather seat and backrest make it versatile enough to suit both formal dining areas and more relaxed kitchen nooks. Practical yet stylish, it’s a solid choice for everyday dining that doesn't compromise on design.
