I’m really taken with this reed-green chest for its clean lines and muted, nature-inspired hue - the slim brass legs lift it off the floor, keeping the look light. Its three roomy drawers are ideal for stashing away linens, office supplies or children’s toys without compromising on style. It suits Scandi-inspired, mid-century or contemporary schemes and makes a smart hallway piece or bedroom sideboard. Top it with a small ceramic lamp, a couple of favourite books and a trailing plant to soften the angles. Group with framed monochrome prints or a woven basket to balance the metal base.

In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth.
