Description
Created in 2018, the Diavoletti family's ceramic vase collection was inspired by divine beings from the Cycladic civilisations of the island of Mykonos. A harmonious combination of the vision of Italian design master Alessandro Mendini (1931 – 2019) and the experience of German artist Daniel Eltner. By modelling ceramic using an ancient technique from the 18th Century, Diavoletto (red)m Diavoletta (pink) and Diavoletto Baby (yellow) were created. A strange and surrealist family, where each member has a distinct colour. This energetic, contemporary trilogy is an ironic reinterpretation of the symbolic talisman through which the trials and tribulations of everyday life are exorcised. The vases from the Diavoletti family have a matte exterior and a glossy exterior. To create these sculptural vases, Alessandro Mendini and Daniel Eltner drew inspiration from the magical realism and extreme naturalism of Albrecht Dürer, a German Renaissance painter.
