Description
Handmade with a traditional wicker weave and a timeless shape, the three-seater Turin sofa from Desser features an intricate woven back, sides and front skirt, creating an attractive piece for the living room or conservatory. The sweeping laminated triple rattan arms are smooth for added comfort when relaxing back on the sofa. The handsewn seat and backrest cushions are made in the UK with a wrapped finish to help prevent wear and tear. The sofa complements matching rattan furniture in the Turin range. Strong and durable, natural rattan is low maintenance and easy to keep clean. Wipe the furniture clean with a dry cloth or a slightly damp cloth and dry it afterwards. Keep the furniture in a dry environment and avoid leaving it under direct sunlight for prolonged periods. The furniture’s colour lasts longer if moved around a conservatory regularly to protect it from direct sun in the same spot. Sustainably sourced in Indonesia, rattan is fast-growing compared to wood alternatives and, as a companion crop, its farming encourages the preservation of forests. Every part of the rattan vine is used. Outer rattan cane is used for attractive weaving and the solid core is steamed to manipulate it into beautiful furniture shapes. Want to see it first? Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.
Commitment to a Greater Purpose
John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
