Handmade from natural rattan with a wicker weave frame, the two-seater Samford sofa from Desser is a modern take on traditional conservatory furniture, featuring fully upholstered panelling for added comfort in the conservatory or living room. The handsewn backrest cushions and thick base cushions are made in the UK with a wrapped finish to help prevent wear and tear. All cushion covers are easily removable for cleaning. The sofa complements matching rattan furniture in the Samford range. Strong and durable, natural rattan is low maintenance and easy to keep clean. Wipe the furniture clean with a dry cloth or a slightly damp cloth and dry it afterwards. Keep the furniture in a dry environment and avoid leaving it under direct sunlight for prolonged periods. The furniture’s colour lasts longer if moved around a conservatory regularly to protect it from direct sun in the same spot. Sustainably sourced in Indonesia, rattan is fast-growing compared to wood alternatives and, as a companion crop, its farming encourages the preservation of forests. Every part of the rattan vine is used. Outer rattan cane is used for attractive weaving and the solid core is steamed to manipulate it into beautiful furniture shapes.
I love the Desser Samford rattan two-seater because it combines timeless rattan craftsmanship with a soft, neutral pebble fabric that works well in both traditional and contemporary spaces. It’s versatile enough to sit comfortably in a coastal, bohemian, or minimalist interior, adding a touch of natural texture without feeling bulky. Practical styling tips include pairing it with patterned cushions or throws in muted tones for a layered look, or keeping it simple with monochrome accessories for a more streamlined vibe. Its compact size makes it perfect for smaller living rooms or cosy corners, while the rattan accents add a hint of relaxed elegance to any setting.
