Description

Relax in luxury at home with this Burford sofa, designed with a spacious corner configuration and a chaise on one side. Handmade from natural rattan, the design features Pirelli webbing for optimal frame support and added stability. Dacron wrap prevents worn areas, maintaining the sofa's pristine appearance over time. Foam-filled, thick seat cushions paired with supportive fibre-filled back cushions ensure lasting comfort. The cushions are made in the UK, in Manchester. The cushion inners are also made in the UK, so the quality and comfort are to the highest standard. The sofa complements matching boxy-shaped rattan furniture in the Burford range. Strong and durable, natural rattan is low maintenance and easy to keep clean. Wipe the furniture clean with a dry cloth or a slightly damp cloth and dry it afterwards. Keep the furniture in a dry environment and avoid leaving it under direct sunlight for prolonged periods. The furniture's colour lasts longer if moved around a conservatory regularly to protect it from direct sunlight in the same spot. Sourced in Indonesia, rattan is fast-growing compared to wood alternatives. Every part of the rattan vine is used. Outer rattan cane is used for attractive weaving, and the solid core is steamed to manipulate it into beautiful furniture shapes.

Our Stylist Says

I love the Desser Burford rattan corner sofa for its relaxed yet stylish appeal, making it an ideal focal piece in both coastal and boho interiors or a casual family living space. The natural wicker detailing adds texture and warmth, so it works particularly well in rooms styled with neutral tones or soft linens, creating a light and airy vibe. To optimise its look, consider pairing it with tactile cushions in muted shades or subtle patterns, and add a large statement rug underneath to ground the space. This sofa's versatile design lends itself to layering with throws and decorative accessories, making it easy to personalise while maintaining a fresh, inviting feel.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
