Description

The Denby Modus range is inspired by the Minimalist Luxe trend, making minimalist style functional and beautiful. Denby's crafting and glazing expertise combines layers of pattern and texture on contemporary shapes creating a stylish impact. The range includes ombre, marble-effect and matte speckled glazes that complement each other. Presented in a contemporary Denby gift box this shallow pebble-shaped vase can display a short-stemmed flower arrangement or also be used with a tealight or candle, transforming both the object itself and the atmosphere it creates in your room. Handthrown by Denby's Master potter in their iconic Derbyshire pottery, using locally sourced clay, each piece of Denby stoneware is handcrafted using pottery techniques passed down through generations and can pass through as many as 20 pairs of hands. Every item of pottery is expertly glazed by skilled craftsmen and the distinctive glazes are renowned for their practicality, durability and chip resistance.

Our Stylist Says

I love this pebble vase for its understated, natural aesthetic. Its soft grey tones and rounded form make it versatile enough to suit contemporary, Scandi, or even rustic interiors. It's particularly effective when styled with dried grasses or single stems in muted shades, creating a simple yet sophisticated focal point. Practical tips include placing it on a mantle or side table as a standalone piece to highlight its sculptural shape, or grouping several in different sizes for a layered look. Its neutral palette makes it easy to pair with other ceramic or textured accessories, adding subtle visual interest without overwhelming the space.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
