Price History

Description

Denby's Kiln range is a true celebration of British craftsmanship using a soft calming palette of chalk white and hues of oatmeal and grey that sit at ease together. The unique freckling glaze effect that is completely different on each item makes every piece of Kiln one of a kind, yet combine to create a collection that is uncomplicated, easy to live with and love. This large barrel vase is a statement piece on its own, even without flowers or foliage, thanks to its size and beautiful earthy tones. It comes presented in a contemporary Denby gift box. Handthrown by Denby's Master potter in their iconic Derbyshire pottery using locally sourced clay, each piece of Denby stoneware is handcrafted using pottery techniques passed down through generations and can pass through as many as 20 pairs of hands. Every item of pottery is expertly glazed by skilled craftsmen and the distinctive glazes are renowned for their practicality, durability and chip resistance.

Our Stylist Says

I love this Kiln Barrel vase for its understated, natural aesthetic-its neutral tones make it incredibly versatile. It works well in both contemporary and rustic interiors, adding a subtle layering of texture and colour without overpowering a space. For styling, I’d suggest pairing it with simple, seasonal foliage or dried stems to highlight its earthy vibe. It’s perfect as a standalone piece on a side table or mantel, but also works beautifully in a cluster with other vases of different heights and shapes to create an eclectic display. Its size makes it ideal for small to medium arrangements, offering a relaxed, effortless way to bring a touch of natural elegance to any room.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
