Description

As useful as it is stylish, the minimalist white Dédal Bookshelf has been innovatively designed in 1955 by Mathieu Matégot for Gubi. Characterised by its unique 'z' shaped design, the Dédal shelf is crafted from perforated lacquered steel for a unique touch of character. Boasting a graphical shape, the shelves can be grouped together to create a statement wall feature. Mathieu Matégot was the first person to combine metal tubing with perforated sheet metal - a pairing that particularly characterises his work. The organic and light forms in his work create a sense of enduring modernity. Matégot's designs are as suited to modern design as they were when originally created; his designs are classic and timeless.

Our Stylist Says

I love this Dédal bookcase for its sleek, modern silhouette and versatile white finish, which offers a clean backdrop that works well in contemporary and minimalist interiors. Its unique geometric shape makes it a statement piece on its own, while also allowing it to blend effortlessly into various spaces like living rooms, home offices, or bedrooms. Practical styling tips include pairing it with neutral-toned books and decorative objects for a sophisticated look, or introducing colour through statement vases or artwork placed nearby. It’s also flexible in terms of placement-either on its own or grouped with other shelves-to create an organised, assembled display that adds visual interest without overwhelming the space.
