Description

Designed in 1950 by iconic duo Charles and Ray Eames for Vitra, the dark red Hopsak-upholstered DAX Plastic Armchair in poppy red offers a visually understated dark base and a refreshed colour palette for 2019, paying homage to the model's original colour history while acknowledging future aspirations. Crafted from recyclable dyed-through polypropylene for greater comfort, the seat comes fully upholstered in Hopsak fabric and sits on a dark four-legged tubular steel base for a refined and elegant finish. Durable and robust, Hopsak is a flat-plain weave fabric crafted from polyamide, making it ideal for private as well as public settings. One of the first industrially produced plastic chairs, the DAX Chair has a simple and organic shape that has led to its legendary status and universal appeal. Updated in 2016, Vitra added 2cm to the height of the chair and revised the geometry of the seat for optimum ergonomics and comfort.

Our Stylist Says

The DAX armchair in dark red hopsak is a stylish choice that adds a pop of colour and a contemporary edge to dining spaces. I love how its sleek plastic armrests and slender legs give it a modern, minimalist feel, making it versatile enough to suit both Scandinavian and industrial interiors. The dark base adds a subtle contrast, grounding the design. For practical styling tips, pair it with neutral or muted table settings to let the chair stand out, or mix it with other bold accents for a more eclectic look. It's a great option for those seeking a statement piece that’s both functional and good-looking in an open-plan kitchen or dining room.
