Description

Designed in 1950 by iconic duo Charles and Ray Eames, the DAW Plastic Armchair is an instantly recognisable piece, showcasing the signature 'Eiffel' base, maple legs and a vibrant poppy red seat. Crafted from recyclable dyed-through polypropylene for greater comfort, the seat sits on a striking base with black steel cross struts and elegant maple legs. The first industrially produced plastic chair, the DAW Chair has a simple and organic shape that has led to its legendary status and universal appeal. Updated in 2016, Vitra added 2cm to the height of the chair and revised the geometry of the seat for optimum ergonomics and comfort.

Our Stylist Says

I love how this chair combines a playful pop of red with a sleek, modern silhouette. It’s versatile enough to work in both contemporary and eclectic interiors, adding colour without overwhelming the space. The curved plastic seat offers comfort and visual interest, while the maple and steel legs keep it grounded with a touch of Scandinavian design influence. Stylists might consider pairing it with minimalist tables for a clean look or mixing it with patterned or textured textiles to create more visual depth. It’s a great option for casual dining spaces or home offices where you want style and practicality to meet effortlessly.
