Description

Designed in 1950 by iconic duo Charles and Ray Eames for Vitra, the DAW Plastic Armchair in a poppy red hue showcases the signature 'Eiffel' base between dark maple legs and a refreshed colour palette for 2019, paying homage to the model's original colour history while acknowledging future aspirations. Crafted from recyclable dyed-through polypropylene for greater comfort, the seat sits on a striking base with black steel cross struts and elegant dark maple legs. The first industrially produced plastic chair, the DAW has a simple and organic shape that has led to its legendary status and universal appeal. Updated in 2016, Vitra added 2cm to the height of the chair and revised the geometry of the seat for optimum ergonomics and comfort. An elegant and distinctive design, the DAW Plastic Armchair is instantly recognisable as an authentic Eames piece and is crafted to exacting standards by prestigious collective Vitra.

Our Stylist Says

I love this chair for its modern, playful silhouette and vibrant poppy red colour, which instantly lifts any interior. It works particularly well in contemporary and eclectic schemes where a statement piece is needed, but it can also add a splash of colour to minimalist or Scandinavian spaces. To style, consider pairing it with neutral-toned furniture to let the colour stand out, or coordinate with other rich hues for a lively look. Its dark maple legs give it a slightly retro feel, making it versatile enough to sit comfortably in various settings - from dining rooms to home offices or even cosy reading corners. Practical tips include layering with textured cushions or throws for added comfort and visual interest.
