Description

Designed in 1950 by iconic duo Charles and Ray Eames for Vitra, the DAW Plastic Armchair showcases the signature 'Eiffel' base between black maple legs and a refreshed colour palette since 2019, paying homage to the model's original colour history while acknowledging future aspirations. Crafted from recyclable dyed-through polypropylene for greater comfort, the seat sits on a striking base with black steel cross struts and elegant black maple legs. The first industrially produced plastic chair, the DAW has a simple and organic shape that has led to its legendary status and universal appeal. Updated in 2016, Vitra added 2cm to the height of the chair and revised the geometry of the seat for optimum ergonomics and comfort. Our Stylist Says

I love the DAW plastic armchair for its clean and contemporary feel, making it a versatile piece for a range of interiors from Scandinavian to modern minimal. The warm grey and ivory tones, paired with the golden maple legs, add a subtle touch of warmth and softness that can complement both neutral palettes and more colour-driven schemes. It works particularly well in living spaces where a light, airy aesthetic is desired, or alongside other mid-century-inspired furniture. Practical styling tips include layering with textured cushions or throws for comfort, or placing it in a reading nook with a small side table for added functionality. Its sleek design also makes it a great choice for home offices or dining areas, providing style without sacrificing practicality.
