Description

Designed in 1950 by iconic duo Charles and Ray Eames for Vitra, the DAW Plastic Armchair showcases the signature ‘Eiffel’ base between black maple legs and a refreshed colour palette since 2019, paying homage to the model’s original colour history while acknowledging future aspirations. Crafted from recyclable dyed-through polypropylene for greater comfort, the seat sits on a striking base with black steel cross struts and elegant black maple legs. The first industrially produced plastic chair, the DAW has a simple and organic shape that has led to its legendary status and universal appeal. Updated in 2016, Vitra added 2cm to the height of the chair and revised the geometry of the seat for optimum ergonomics and comfort.

Our Stylist Says

I really like this armchair for its sleek, modern take on classic seating. The seed-green tone offers versatility, working well in both contemporary and retro-inspired interiors, especially when paired with natural woods or neutral palettes. Its compact size makes it ideal for living rooms, home offices, or cosy reading nooks. Styling tips include adding a textured cushion for extra comfort and mixing it with other wooden or coloured furniture to create visual interest. The blend of plastic and wood makes it durable while maintaining a light, airy feel-perfect for a stylish yet practical addition to various schemes.
