Description

Design. Boasting a beautiful blend of cosiness and class, the Darwin large pillow back sofa makes use of both leather and fabric upholstery for a wonderfully eclectic look. The warm, neutral shades of brown and beige sit beautifully within a range of interior colour schemes, complementing both contemporary and traditional looks equally. Generously filled with feathers, the pillow back cushions and scatters give the sofa beautiful shape, whilst blown fibre seats ensure sumptuous softness. Certainly something to sink into.

Our Stylist Says

The large sofa in neutral leather is a versatile statement piece that adds timeless elegance to a wide range of interiors. Its size and plush back make it ideal for family living rooms or open-plan spaces where comfort is key. I love how the neutral tone provides a perfect blank canvas for styling with cushions and throws, allowing you to introduce colour and texture easily. For a contemporary look, consider pairing it with sleek metallic accessories or monochrome accents. In more traditional interiors, layering with patterned cushions and warm-toned throws can create a cosy, inviting atmosphere. Its durability and classic design mean it works well with both modern and vintage-inspired decor, making it a stylish yet practical choice for any home.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
