Description

Designed in 1950 by iconic duo Charles and Ray Eames for Vitra, the DAR Plastic Armchair in a mustard yellow hue showcases the signature 'Eiffel' dark base and a refreshed colour palette for 2019, paying homage to the model's original colour history while acknowledging future aspirations. Crafted from recyclable dyed-through polypropylene for greater comfort, the seat sits on a striking dark wire base with cross struts. The first industrially produced plastic chair, the DAR Chair has a simple and organic shape that has led to its legendary status and universal appeal. Updated in 2016, Vitra added 2cm to the height of the chair and revised the geometry of the seat for optimum ergonomics and comfort.

Our Stylist Says

I love this chair because it brings a modern pop of colour while remaining sleek and versatile. The mustard hue adds warmth and vibrancy, making it a great choice for both contemporary and eclectic dining spaces. It works particularly well in minimalist interiors with neutral palettes, or paired with natural textures like wood and linen for a balanced look. Practical styling tips include mixing and matching with other chair styles for an eclectic vibe, or keeping it paired with a simple, understated dining table to let the colour really stand out. Its sturdy plastic design also makes it easy to clean, perfect for busy households or entertaining.
