If self-care had a physical form, it'd be the thoughtful, functional homeware by Slowdown Studio. Each of their collaborative, artistic pieces is designed to make you take a minute – breathe it in. The Dalton Throw was designed by Amsterdam-based Australian artist Steve Bachmayer – one of the twelve winners of the 2019 Slowdown Art Comp. All Slowdown Studio woven blankets are spun from 100% USA-grown cotton, and this one's made from a 70% recycled cotton blend – sustainable as well as soul-sparking. Their heavy weight makes them just as at home on your sofa as hung on your wall as unusual art.
I love the Dalton throw for its bold, abstract design and versatile colour palette, which can easily complement both modern and eclectic interiors. It works well layered over a neutral sofa or bed to add warmth and a touch of artistic flair. Practical styling tips include folding it neatly over the arm of a chair or draping it across the foot of a bed to create visual interest without overwhelming the space. Its tactile texture also makes it perfect for cosy evenings in, and because of its design, it adds a statement element without competing with other patterns or decor. Overall, it’s an excellent piece to bring a contemporary edge and colour cohesion to a variety of schemes.
