Choose the perfect outdoor furniture We have a selection of wooden furniture for you to choose from which will suit the home or garden. Below are a few options to consider when choosing your perfect outdoor furniture. Teak (Best)A premium and popular wood with an attractive appearance which ages beautifully. Strong, durable and resistant to rot and decay, this furniture requires little maintenance. Eucalyptus (Better)Distinctive scent and appearance which darkens as it ages. Provides similar natural benefits to teak including moisture resistance, hardness and durability. It's plentiful in supply which makes the furniture an inexpensive choice Acacia (Good)Naturally durable, this wood is incredibly hard and is unlikely to suffer damage during everyday use. It provides similar natural benefits to teak, yet unlike many other hardwoods, acacia is also relatively fast growing which minimises the environmental impact.

Our Stylist Says

I really like this side table because of its natural, FSC-Certified eucalyptus wood finish, which adds warmth and sustainability to any setting. It works particularly well in pared-back, Scandinavian-inspired interiors or outdoor spaces where a touch of natural texture is key. Practical styling tips include pairing it with a simple table lamp, a small potted plant, or a few favourite books to create an inviting side corner. Its straightforward design also makes it versatile enough to blend with both contemporary and rustic styles. In outdoor areas, it’s perfect next to a lounger or bench, providing a handy spot for drinks or reading materials while maintaining a cohesive, natural look.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
