Design. For a modern look with plenty of rustic charm, theCraster. Small Sideboard is a lovely option that will look great when placed inanydining room. The unique look of Craster is complete with three wooden crate style drawers, perfect for storing fresh produce. The single drawer is fitted with metal runners for a sleek open and close and the cupboard space below has a fitted wooden shelf for a tiered storage solution, ideal for placing plates, bowls and more.

Our Stylist Says

I love this piece for its versatile colour palette and practical design. The grey oak finish lends itself beautifully to both contemporary and rustic interiors, and its compact size makes it ideal for smaller spaces like hallways or cosy living rooms. The mixture of drawers and cupboard space offers excellent storage options, perfect for keeping clutter out of sight. When styling, consider adding a statement lamp, a few decorative bowls, or framed prints on top to bring personality to the space. It works particularly well with natural materials and soft colour tones, but can also add a charming contrast in more modern, minimalist schemes. Overall, it’s a sturdy, functional piece that adds warmth and character wherever it’s placed.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
