Description

Design. Displayed on its own or combined with coordinating pieces to form a larger unit, the Covington three section cube bookcase provides versatile storage to suit any space. Made from reclaimed wood, it brings a wealth of history and character to wherever it is placed, working equally well in traditional interiors as it does with more industrial or modern looks. The bookcase’s natural finish allows the grains and warm tones of the wood to shine, making it perfect for a wide range of colour schemes. Showcasing your favourite reads and accessories, or simply a convenient place for grabbing essentials on the go, the Covington is a handy addition to any corner of the home.

Our Stylist Says

I really like this three-section reclaimed wood cube-it offers a versatile balance between function and rustic charm. It works particularly well in both modern and traditional interiors, adding warmth and texture to living rooms, studies, or even kitchens. To style it effectively, consider layering your books and decorative objects, such as vases, candles, or greenery, to create visual interest. It’s also great for showcasing heirlooms or collectibles, giving them a dedicated spot without feeling cluttered. Practical tips include using baskets or boxes on the lower shelves to hide less attractive items or to keep things organised, ensuring the overall look remains clean and cohesive. This piece is a solid choice for adding character and practical storage in a space that embraces natural materials.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
