Description
Completely handmade and expertly crafted from reclaimed timber that was once old houses, furniture and even railway sleepers. The Covington dining table is wonderfully rustic, with each wooden beam showcasing gorgeous grain detail and distressed markings earned from its previous lifetime. Its pedestal inspired base brings a traditional feel, yet holds a design that can work well within many types of interior settings, be it country cottage or modern industrial.
Our Stylist Says
I love this rustic table for its authentic reclaimed wood finish, which adds warmth and character to any dining space. It works particularly well in farmhouse, industrial, or countryside-inspired interiors, but can also serve as a statement piece in more contemporary settings when styled thoughtfully. Practical styling tips include pairing it with mix-and-match vintage chairs for a relaxed look, or sleek, modern seating for contrast. Keep accessories minimal to let the natural grain shine through, or add a runners and mismatched crockery for a cosy, inviting feel. Its sturdy construction also makes it ideal for everyday family use or hosting gatherings without compromising on style.

About Barker and Stonehouse
A Remarkable Journey
Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.
Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.
Sustainability at the Forefront
From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.
Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.
Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.
Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons
Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.
They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
