With Coppélia, the brilliant designer Arihiro Miyake provides us with a contemporary reinterpretation of the classic chandelier. Inspired by the graceful movements of a ballerina, this chandelier traces sinuous, delicate movements in the air. This light is made up of a three-dimensional steel mesh structure made up of three levels onto which 36 diffuser-tubes are inserted. These opaline polycarbonate tubes are like candles and contain built-in LED sources. The intertwined steel wires form beautiful, repeating geometric patterns. This openwork balanced structure is incredibly aerial. The steel wires serve as a conductor (very low-voltage electric current). To enhance the impression of lights suspended in space, the electric cable is transparent. Inspired by both aesthetic and technical challenges, Japanese designer Arihiro Miyake has produced a model with a geometric and rigorously architected design. This remarkable piece will dress beautiful high ceilings with panache!.
I love this small pendant for its modern, minimalist appeal and versatile design. Its sleek black framework combined with the LED offers a clean, contemporary look that works well in both residential and commercial interiors. It’s particularly effective in accentuating modern kitchens, dining areas, or statement lighting over a breakfast bar. When styling, consider pairing it with other monochrome or matte finishes for a cohesive look, or use multiple units in a cluster for visual interest in high-ceilinged spaces. Its compact size makes it suitable for smaller rooms or to create layered lighting effects without overpowering the space. Practical tip: keep the wiring simple and at a higher ceiling height to highlight its sculptural form while ensuring unobstructed light distribution.
