I’m a big fan of this black-and-oak sideboard because its clean lines and mixed materials bring both warmth and structure to a room. The mattblack body makes it versatile enough for Scandi, modern country or contemporary schemes, while the oak top adds a natural touch that stops it feeling too stark.
Styling-wise, use it as a drinks station in your dining area or as a media console in the living room. Keep the top simple - perhaps a cluster of ceramic vases, a low tray for remotes and a small lamp - and hide clutter in the two drawers and cupboards. In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth. By 1989, this entrepreneurial spirit led to the opening of the very first physical store on Billacombe Road, originally named "C.D.S. Superstores". However, in the early '90s, a rebranding took place, introducing "The Range" to the world.
Today, with a whopping 200+ stores across the UK, The Range boasts an impressive selection of over 65,000 products, spreading across 16 diverse departments, all dedicated to enhancing homes and lifestyles.
Chris Dawson, the brain behind The Range, held the CEO position from 1989 to 2017. With a flair for business, Chris's achievements haven't gone unnoticed. He was even ranked fifth in a survey of Britain's Top 100 Entrepreneurs.
Under his leadership, The Range has not only thrived locally but has also hinted at European expansion dreams, envisioning a staggering 1,000 stores across the continent.
