I’m a big fan of this ladder shelf for its clean, space-saving profile and the contrast between the warm timber shelves and slim black frame. It slots straight into contemporary, Scandi-inspired or industrial-style rooms without overwhelming a corner or wall.
To style it, alternate stacks of books with small potted plants or sculptural ceramics, keeping heavier objects low down and lighter pieces towards the top. Tuck woven baskets on the bottom shelf to hide cables or office bits, and leave a little breathing space between items so the whole display feels organised rather than overcrowded.

In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth. By 1989, this entrepreneurial spirit led to the opening of the very first physical store on Billacombe Road, originally named "C.D.S. Superstores". However, in the early '90s, a rebranding took place, introducing "The Range" to the world.
Today, with a whopping 200+ stores across the UK, The Range boasts an impressive selection of over 65,000 products, spreading across 16 diverse departments, all dedicated to enhancing homes and lifestyles.
Chris Dawson, the brain behind The Range, held the CEO position from 1989 to 2017. With a flair for business, Chris's achievements haven't gone unnoticed. He was even ranked fifth in a survey of Britain's Top 100 Entrepreneurs.
Under his leadership, The Range has not only thrived locally but has also hinted at European expansion dreams, envisioning a staggering 1,000 stores across the continent.
