The luminary Michael Anastassiades presents his latest invention for Flos: the Coordinates C4 Ceiling Light in a breathtaking champagne-hued finish. Initially commissioned for the dining area in New York's historic Four Seasons Restaurant, the dimmable light infuses extruded aluminium with optical silicone diffusers for a grid-like structure of horizontal and vertical elements, easily adaptable to all environments. Designer of the Year at MAISON & OBJET January 2020, Michael Anastassiades's philosophy is to produce exceptionally designed objects of permanent value. The light master's work features in permanent collections at the MoMA, the V & A and the MAK, communicating a sense of eclecticism, individuality and timelessness.
I love this C4 ceiling light for its modern, sculptural quality-it's a statement piece that adds a contemporary edge to any room. Its anodised champagne finish offers a warm, sophisticated glow that complements both minimalist and eclectic interiors. It's particularly effective in open-plan spaces or above dining tables, where its geometric structure can be appreciated from multiple angles. For styling, consider pairing it with neutral tones and clean-lined furniture to let the light's form do the talking, or contrast with richer textures like velvet or brass accents for a more luxe feel. Practical tips include hanging it at the right height-about 75-85cm above a table or in a room with high ceilings-to ensure it commands attention without overwhelming the space.
