Description

Designed to fit perfectly in an alcove, the Metal Balance shelving unit from Content by Terence Conran offers ample storage space for your decorative accessories. Its five shelves are made from stained mango wood, that's been coated and finished with a lacquer for durability. Offering a contrast to the natural wood grain, it's supported by a powder-coated metal frame that enhances its well-balanced and modern aesthetic. This unit is supplied with an anti-tip kit and we recommend that it is wall-mounted. Created by Terence Conran, the comprehensive Content range features clean-lined, contemporary furniture for relaxed living. The distinctive pieces are designed to work in a variety of living spaces and are available in a wide choice of styles, sizes and materials.

Our Stylist Says

I really like this shelving unit for its clean, modern silhouette and versatile design. It works particularly well in contemporary or industrial interiors, adding a sculptural element without overwhelming the space. Its open, geometric form makes it ideal for displaying books, plants, or objects that benefit from a bit of visual breathing room. When styling, try to keep items minimal and uncluttered to highlight the structure. Mixing in some colour or texture with accessories can add personality, but the real strength of this piece is in its understated elegance and flexibility across different rooms-from living spaces to home offices. It’s a smart choice for anyone looking to combine functionality with a modern aesthetic.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
