A design classic, the Cobra lamp was created by Elio Martinelli in 1968. Exhibited in the greatest museums in the world, it is a real icon. It is one of the first lamps made from moulded resin. The is a simple, round shape. Its curves are typical of 1970's design. Cobra is made from two parts joined by a central hinge. The top part rotates 360°: it enables the light to be directed. As its name suggests, this lamp is reminiscent of a cobra ready to attack, especially when the arm rotates! The direct and diffuse lighting is comfortable.
I love this lamp for its bold, sculptural presence and sleek black finish, which makes it a versatile statement piece. Its modern, minimalist design works particularly well in contemporary or industrial-inspired interiors, but it can also add an unexpected edge to more eclectic schemes. Practical styling tips include placing it on a side table or console to serve as both task and accent lighting, or positioning it in a corner to create a striking, ambient glow. Its distinctive shape makes it a perfect focal point in a minimalist setup, while its understated colour allows it to complement a wide range of colour palettes.
