Description

Up/Downlights are an excellent way to bring lots of light to an outdoor space while still retaining ambiance. This Cinder Up/Down light looks sleek and classy due to its anthracite finish and cylinder-shaped structure. The finish is dark and neutral, giving the piece an edgy and simplistic feel. This piece had the ability to look quaint and stylish in all outdoor spaces and is extremely safe for facing outdoor climates due to the IP44 rating.

Our Stylist Says

I really like the Cinder wall light for its sleek, modern aesthetic with a practical edge. Its anthracite finish makes it versatile enough to complement contemporary, industrial, or even transitional exteriors. I’d suggest pairing it with minimalist or monochromatic schemes for a cohesive look, or using it as a subtle contrast on textured brick or stone walls. Practical styling tips include installing a few along paths or on porch facades to enhance evening safety while maintaining a clean, understated vibe. Its unobtrusive design means it works equally well in more understated or statement outdoor spaces, offering both form and function without overpowering the overall landscape.

About BHS.com

Founded in 1928, BHS is a renowned brand that caters to various tastes and budgets. From modern to classic designs, BHS offers quality items that effortlessly elevate your decor.

Historical Roots

British Home Stores, known as BHS, was founded by a group of U.S. entrepreneurs with the goal of replicating the same success that was seen by Woolworths.

Their first store was on the streets of Brixton and the brand quickly gained popularity for its diverse offerings.

Over time, their range of products expanded to encompass not just clothing and household items, but also furniture, electronics, entertainment, and even beauty products. By the 1960's, BHS already had 94 stores across the nation!

Expansion and Evolution

BHS has always been on the cutting edge of retail trends! In the 1970s and 1980s, when indoor shopping centres were gaining popularity, BHS quickly adapted. Their collaboration with Sainsbury's led to the creation of SavaCentre hypermarkets, which offered a combined retail experience of both general merchandise and groceries.

They didn't limit themselves to the UK either. By 1985, BHS opened its doors in Gibraltar, marking its international debut. Significant milestones like the merger with Habitat and Mothercare in 1986 further shaped its success.
