Created by French designer Ionna Vautrin, Chouchin is a contemporary reinterpretation of the paper and bamboo lantern, a symbol of Japanese culture. The designer has succeeded in retranscribing all the poetry and magic of traditional lanterns through a rather unexpected material: Blown glass. The lines are pure, fluid, the contours soft... All the charisma of the Chouchin Wall light (Lantern in Japanese) is expressed through this blend of sobriety, modernity and authenticity. Chouchin combines great craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetic demands. The artisan glassmaker places a drop of glass in a mold that forms the shape of the Lampshade. The brilliance of the high-gloss glass enhances the Wall light's clean, zen-like lines, giving it a sophisticated look!
I love the Chouchin 3 Semi wall light for its clean, minimalist aesthetic and versatile grey glass finish, which adds a subtle touch of modern sophistication. It works particularly well in contemporary interiors, especially in areas like hallways, bedrooms, or even bathrooms where you want soft, glare-free illumination. Practical styling tips include pairing it with other understated fixtures for a cohesive look, or using it as a statement piece alongside textured or coloured accent walls. Its compact size makes it ideal for creating cosy, ambient lighting without overwhelming a space, and the semi-opaque glass diffuses light beautifully for a warm, inviting glow.
